Jim Colborn broke the Brewers' club record for most games won in one season by defeating the Angels, 8-2, for his 15th victory. The previous high was 14 by Marty Pattin in 1970 and '71 and by Jim Lonborg in 1972.

The Brewers gave Colborn more than enough support to win with a five-run outburst in the third inning. The first run scored on an error with the bases loaded. A single by Ollie Brown and infield out by Ellie Rodriguez each added a tally. Pedro Garcia then doubled to drive in another pair.
