Turning from home-run hitter to bunter, Bill Freehan executed a perfect squeeze play in the eighth inning to provide the Tigers with a 3-2 victory over the Athletics. Freehan homered in the second. The Tigers added another run in that same stanza on a double by Dick Sharon and single by Aurelio Rodriguez. In the eighth, Al Kaline singled and took third on a single by Willie Horton. Freehan then laid down his bunt and beat it out for a hit as Kaline scored. [The Sporting News]
