The Indians knocked out Jim Bibby in the seventh inning and scored three runs to defeat the Rangers, 5-2. John Ellis homered for one of the Indians' two runs in the first, but the Rangers picked up a tally in their half on a walk to Dave Nelson, an infield out and single by Jim Spencer.

Frank Duffy drew a pass from Bibby to open the seventh and scored on a double by Oscar Gamble. After an intentional pass to Chris Chambliss, Ellis singled to drive in Gamble. Chambliss took third on the hit and crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly by Charlie Spikes. [The Sporting News]
