Although Norm Cash was collared on a day in his honor, Gates Brown and Jim Northrup hit homers to lead the Tigers to a 6-2 victory over the White Sox. Brown hit for the circuit with a man on base in the first inning and Northrup followed with his round-tripper in the third. [The Sporting News]
