The Royals defeated the Indians for the eighth straight time this season, pounding their way to an 8-5 victory. Fran Healy knocked in three runs with a double in the second inning. Lou Piniella homered in the fourth and the Royals then wrapped up the game with four runs in the sixth to end Gaylord Perry's bid for his fifth straight victory.

Freddie Patek beat out an infield hit with the bases loaded to plate the first marker. Cookie Rojas followed with a two-run single and Amos Otis capped the Royals' scoring with a single to drive in their final run. [The Sporting News]
