The Cardinals, who were losing, 5-0, suddenly exploded at bat and ended an eight-game losing streak with a 9-5 victory over the Astros. The Cardinals put together six singles and a walk for five runs in the sixth inning and then posted their winning margin in the seventh with four runs on a walk to Ted Sizemore, double by Bernie Carbo, single by Ted Simmons, double by Joe Torre and single by Tim McCarver.
