The Braves piled up 19 hits, including homers by Darrell Evans and Davey Johnson, to annihilate the Cubs, 15-1. Every Braves' starter had at least one hit, all but Phil Niekro scored at least once and everyone except Marty Perez batted in at least one run. The Cubs, who went down to their 10th straight defeat, picked up their lone run when Rico Carty singled in the fourth inning for his first hit in a Chicago uniform and crossed the plate on Ron Santo's first triple of the season.
