Dave McNally, who was a master of the former Washington Senators, continued his hold on their Texas successors by pitching the Orioles to a 5-1 victory over the Rangers. The triumph was the lefthander's 17th straight over the Washington-Texas franchises in a string that started April 12, 1969, including two victories over the Rangers in 1972 and two this year. The Orioles' support of McNally included a two-run homer by Earl Williams. Bill Sudakis homered to save the Rangers from being shutout. [The Sporting News]
