. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Al Fitzmorris gained his fifth straight victory since being recalled from Omaha (American Association) July 16 when the Royals defeated the Indians, 5-1. The Royals scored their initial run in the first inning on a double by Freddie Patek and three walks issued by Tom Timmerman. The Indians matched with a run in the fourth on singles by Chris Chambliss and John Lowenstein around an infield out. The Royals broke the tie in their half of the fourth on doubles by Lou Piniella and Fran Healy. Amos Otis homered in the fifth and the Royals breezed the rest of the way. [The Sporting News]
