Bud Harrelson, who returned to the Mets' lineup in the previous day's game after having been on the disabled list since August 1, scored one run and drove in another to enable Jerry Koosman to defeat the Reds, 2-1. Harrelson doubled in the first inning, advanced on an infield out and scored on a sacrifice fly by Willie Mays. After the Reds tied the score with an unearned run in the fifth, Don Hahn singled for the Mets in the eighth and scored the deciding run on another double by Harrelson. [The Sporting News]
