Ken Sanders, who was with the Twins before being sold on waivers August 3, saved one game and won another when the Indians defeated his former teammates in a doubleheader, 5-3 and 4-3. Buddy Bell provided the Indians' big blow in the opener, smashing a three-run homer in the fifth inning to break a 2-2 tie. Sanders relieved after the Twins scored their third run in the eighth. Sanders was on the mound again in relief in the nightcap when the Indians scored their winning run in the ninth inning on a pass to Jack Brohamer, sacrifice by Rusty Torres and single by Leo Cardenas.
