The Pirates collected only three hits off Don Wilson in seven innings, but took advantage of the righthander's wildness to defeat the Astros, 6-3. Richie Hebner singled and scored on a double by Willie Stargell in the fourth. Stargell then took third and scored on two wild pitches by Wilson.

In the sixth, John Morlan and Gene Clines walked. After a pickoff error by Wilson, Morlan came home on a sacrifice fly by Hebner. Clines took third and crossed the plate on Wilson's third wild pitch of the game. Johnny Edwards and Lee May hit homers for the Astros. [The Sporting News]
