Rick Wise hit a grand-slam homer to climax a seven-run outburst by the Cardinals in the third inning, but the Braves came pounding back to gain an 11-7 victory. After the Cardinals' outburst, the Braves scored six runs in their half of the third on a single by Ralph Garr, error by Joe Torre, single by Hank Aaron, double by Dusty Baker and homer by Davey Johnson.

Mike Lum tied the score at 7-7 with a homer in the fifth and the Braves went on from there to go ahead with two more runs on singles by Darrell Evans and Aaron and a double by Baker. In the sixth, Lum singled, Evans tripled and Aaron doubled to wrap up the decision. [The Sporting News]
