Making his 42nd appearance, Tug McGraw gained his first victory of the season when the Mets rallied for two runs in the ninth inning to defeat the Dodgers, 4-3. Pinch-hitter Cleon Jones singled, advanced on an infield out and scored the tying run on a single by Felix Millan. Rusty Staub singled, Millan stopping at second, and John Milner followed with another single to drive in the winning run. McGraw, who had lost six games, pitched the last two innings and held the Dodgers hitless, striking out three. [The Sporting News]
