Making his 42nd appearance, Tug McGraw gained his first victory of the season when the Mets rallied for two runs in the ninth inning to defeat the Dodgers, 4-3. Pinch-hitter Cleon Jones singled, advanced on an infield out and scored the tying run on a single by Felix Millan. Rusty Staub singled, Millan stopping at second, and John Milner followed with another single to drive in the winning run.
