Settling down after a shaky start, Pat Dobson pitched the Yankees to a 7-1 victory over the Indians. Before retiring a batter in the first inning, Dobson gave up the Indians' run on a walk and singles by Oscar Gamble and George Hendrick. The Yankees came back immediately, scoring twice on a triple by Roy White, infield out by Mike Hegan and homer by Thurman Munson, and Dobson stayed the rest of the way, allowing only three hits in the final seven innings.
