A great slugging performance by Reggie Jackson, who drove in seven runs with two homers and a single, enabled the Athletics to defeat the Rangers, 8-4. Jackson accounted for the game's first run with a single in the first inning and then hit for the circuit with two men on base in both the fifth and ninth innings. [The Sporting News]
