The Angels piled up 15 hits, including homers by Leroy Stanton, Frank Robinson and Mike Epstein, to defeat the Rangers, 11-8. The Rangers scored four runs in the first inning, but the Angels picked up a pair of singletons before going ahead for good when Stanton hit his homer with two men on base in the third.
