John D'Acquisto, who drove in what proved to be the winning run with a sacrifice fly, gained his second victory of the season when the Giants defeated the Padres, 3-2. The Giants picked up their initial run in the first inning on a triple by Bobby Bonds and infield out by Chris Speier before adding their other tallies in the second. Steve Ontiveros, Dave Kingman and Mike Phillips hit singles and when Fred Kendall let the throw from the outfield get away, Ontiveros scored. Kingman took third and crossed the plate on D'Acquisto's fly.
