. . . where the 1970s live forever!
With strong winds helping the flight of the ball, 12 homers flew out of Municipal Stadium in a doubleheader that saw the Yankees win the first game, 9-5, and the Indians take the second game, 9-6. The Yankees hit six homers in the opener, including two by Graig Nettles and one each by Thurman Munson, Ron Blomberg, Bobby Murcer and Mike Hegan. Charlie Spikes had one for the Indians. The Yankees capped their attack with three round-trippers in the ninth inning. Munson connected with a man on base and, after Blomberg went out, Nettles and Hegan homered in succession.

Nettles hit two homers and Murcer one in the nightcap, while Dave Duncan rapped a pair for the Indians, who broke a 3-3 tie with a five-run outburst in the sixth inning. [The Sporting News]
