Dave Schneck hit two homers and drove in four runs, but that was not enough for the Mets, who lost to the Expos, 7-4, for their sixth straight defeat. After Schneck connected with two aboard to put the Mets ahead in the sixth inning, 3-2, Bob Bailey tied the score with a circuit clout in the home half and Barry Foote followed with his first major league homer in the seventh to send the Expos ahead to stay.
