Jim Cox, rookie second baseman with the Expos from Peninsula (International), batted in two runs with a single in the first inning and then hit his first major league homer for two more runs in the third to the lead way to an 8-5 victory over the Mets. The Expos counted a total of four runs in the first, other RBIs coming on a double by Hal Breeden and single by Ken Singleton. But the Expos were leading only 4-3 before Cox rapped his homer in the third. [The Sporting News]
