. . . where the 1970s live forever!
In a decided contrast to their 18-9 victory in the previous day's game, the Cubs got seven-hit pitching from Ken Frailing and Ray Burris and shut out the Pirates, 1-0. Frailing allowed all seven hits before Burris took over to hurl the last two innings. The Cubs scored the game's lone run in the first and it was unearned. Rick Monday singled and took third on a single by Jerry Morales when Rennie Stennett dropped the relay throw from the outfield. Billy Williams then got the run home with a sacrifice fly.
