The Astros, who twice walked Steve Ontiveros intentionally to get at Chris Speier, lived to regret their moves when the Giants' shortstop drove in three runs to account for a 5-2 victory. In the sixth inning, Garry Maddox was on third and Gary Matthews on second with two away when the Astros passed Ontiveros. Speier came through with a single to score two runs.
