With two out in the sixth inning, Bruce Dal Canton walked Ron Santo with the bases loaded, forcing in Dick Allen with the run that gave the White Sox a 5-4 victory over the Royals. Dal Canton, replacing Marty Pattin, retired Buddy Bradford and Carlos May before his troubles started. Allen walked, Bill Melton singled and Ken Henderson drew a pass to load the bases before the pass to Santo accounted for the deciding tally.
