. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Hank Aaron hit his 718th homer, connecting with a man on base in the seventh inning, to lift the Braves to a 3-2 victory over the Pirates. Jerry Reuss, who was the loser in a duel with Ron Reed, was staked to a 2-0 lead in the third inning, but the Braves picked up a run in the fifth when Dusty Baker doubled, took third after a long fly by Davey Johnson and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ivan Murrell. Darrell Evans opened the seventh by drawing a walk. Aaron came up and smashed his winning homer on Reuss' first pitch. [The Sporting News]
