. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Equaling the club single-game scoring record, the Astros got a pair of two-run homers in the same frame from Lee May and battered the Cubs, 18-2. May tied a major league record with his round-trippers during the nine-run sixth inning, becoming the 14th player in history to accomplish the feat. He also had three other hits and drove in five runs.

Houston pinned the loss on Bill Bonham with a five-run first, which included two wild pitches by the Cub starter. All Astro starters hit safely to back the seven-hit hurling of Dave Roberts, who went the distance for the third time this season. The Astros had 20 hits off six Cub pitchers, including three singles by rookie Greg Gross. [The Sporting News]
