Run-producing singles by Bucky Dent and Dick Allen enabled the White Sox to defeat the Orioles, 2-0, behind the six-hit pitching of Jim Kaat and terry Forster. Brian Downing singled in the second inning, advanced to third on a single by Ed Herrmann and scored on a bunt single by Dent. Consecutive singles by Buddy Bradford, Carlos May and Allen added the other run in the fifth. Forster relieved Kaat after Earl Williams singled to lead off the ninth.
