Sparking a three-run rally in the fifth inning, Jim Rooker gained his first victory of the season when the Pirates defeated the Braves, 4-3. Dusty Baker of the Braves and Richie Zisk of the Pirates each homered in the second, but the Braves moved ahead, 3-1, before Rooker singled in the fifth and scored on singles by Rennie Stennett and Al Oliver.
