With a Bat Night crowd of 35,084 on hand, Bill Singer pitched a six-hitter and Bob Oliver drove in two runs to lead the Angels to a 3-1 victory over the Orioles. Denny Doyle, who had three hits for the Angels, singled in the fourth and scored their first run on a sacrifice and a single by Oliver. Doyle singled again in the sixth and subsequently scored again on an infield out by Oliver. The Angels' last run in the eighth was unearned when Brooks Robinson committed his seventh error of the season. The Orioles' lone run also was unearned on an error by Oliver. [The Sporting News]
