Mike Cuellar, with bat help from Brooks Robinson and Paul Blair, claimed his first victory of the season for the Orioles with a route-going, seven-hit performance, beating the A's, 6-3. Robinson collected two doubles and a pair of singles and drove in two runs, while Blair accounted for the final Oriole runs in the sixth with a two-run homer.

Cuellar, who entered the game with three losses and no complete games in four starts, gave up back-to-back homers in the first to Joe Rudi and Reggie Jackson, then set down 14 Oakland batters in succession before the A's reached him for a final unearned run in the sixth.
