Jerry Moses' two-out RBI single in the bottom of the seventh capped a Tiger rally which ended the White Sox' five-game winning streak, 5-4. Down 4-3 after the Sox had scored twice on Ed Herrmann's homer, Bucky Dent's double and a throwing error by Ed Brinkman in the seventh, Detroit got singles by Jim Northrup and Gates Brown to kayo loser Cy Acosta.

Reliever Terry Forster got pinch-hitter Dick Sharon to hit into a forceout, but Northrup scored the tying run. Sharon stole second and came home with the deciding run on Moses' hit. The Sox got a two-run homer from Pat Kelly in the third, but Northrup homered with two on in the bottom of that same frame for a Tiger lead which stood up until the seventh.
