Solo homers by Buddy Bell and Oscar Gamble in the fourth put the Indians ahead to stay and helped Cleveland end the Angels' six-game winning streak, 5-3. Fritz Peterson, although touched for eight hits in six innings, beat the Angels for the second time since being traded by the Yankees, running his career mark against California to 16-6. Singles by Charlie Spikes and George Hendrick and Dave Duncan's sacrifice fly accounted for the third Indian run in the fourth. The Tribe added two more in the fifth off loser Bill Stoneman. The Angels got all their runs in the fifth, two on Frank Robinson's homer. [The Sporting News] |
