Ron Blomberg's groundout chased home Thurman Munson, who had walked and moved to third on Murcer's hit, with an insurance run. The Yankees grabbed a 4-0 lead in the second against starter David Clyde with four singles and a double by Roy White. The Rangers got one back in the second and tied the score on Jim Fregosi's three-run homer in the fourth.
