A single by John Lowenstein for his third hit of the game, followed by an error, enabled the Indians to score two runs in the ninth inning to gain a 5-3 victory over the Angels. Oscar Gamble opened the frame with an infield hit and, after two out, Frank Duffy singled, Gamble stopping at second. Lowenstein then lined a single off second baseman Denny Doyle's glove, scoring Gamble.
