A single by John Lowenstein for his third hit of the game, followed by an error, enabled the Indians to score two runs in the ninth inning to gain a 5-3 victory over the Angels. Oscar Gamble opened the frame with an infield hit and, after two out, Frank Duffy singled, Gamble stopping at second. Lowenstein then lined a single off second baseman Denny Doyle's glove, scoring Gamble. Shortstop Dave Chalk, who retrieved the ball, threw wildly to third trying to catch Duffy, who continued home and scored on the error. [The Sporting News]
