Although Rick Reuschel pitched a four-hitter, the Cubs needed two unearned runs to gain a 3-1 victory over the Braves. Reuschel gave up a run in the fourth inning when Hank Aaron, after forcing Dusty Baker, stole second and scored on a single by Darrell Evans. The Cubs, held to four hits by Roric Harrison through six innings, got going with singles by Rick Monday and Jose Cardenal in the seventh. After a pass to Carmen Fanzone loaded bases, Chris Ward grounded into a forceout at second, but Craig Robinson threw wildly to first trying for a double play, as Monday and Cardenal scored.
