A homer by Bernie Carbo in the seventh inning broke up a scoreless duel between Luis Tiant and Pat Dobson and sent the Red Sox on their way to a 2-0 victory over the Yankees. The Red Sox picked up another run after Carbo's clout on a single by Juan Beniquez and double by Dick McAuliffe. Tiant, who yielded only three hits, posted the Red Sox' second straight shutout of the Yankees, following Bill Lee's 4-0 victory in the previous night's game. [The Sporting News]
