. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Jim Rooker collected a single and double among the Pirates' 15 hits while pitching seven innings in a 4-1 victory over the Astros. Dave Giusti worked the last two frames. The Pirates began the scoring in the second on singles by Richie Hebner, Frank Taveras and Rooker, with the run being unearned because catcher Cliff Johnson bobbled the throw to the plate.

A single by Willie Stargell, pass to Richie Zisk and singles by Manny Sanguillen and Hebner added two runs in the third. Rooker doubled and counted on a single by Rennie Stennett in the eighth before surrendering the mound to Giusti. Lee May homered for the Astros' run off Rooker in the fourth inning.
