Gaylord Perry brought his career record against the Red Sox to 11-1 by pitching the Indians to a 6-2 victory. The veteran righthander allowed only five hits with Red Sox runs coming on homers by Carlton Fisk and Dick McAuliffe. The Indians, after building up a 3-0 lead against Reggie Cleveland, clinched their victory with two homers. George Hendrick connected for the circuit following a single by Charlie Spikes in the fifth inning and Frank Duffy smashed a drive over the wall in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
