Tommy Davis rapped three singles, drove in two runs and scored two in leading the Orioles to a 6-5 victory over the Brewers. Singles by Davis and Earl Williams around a wild pitch started the Orioles' scoring in the first inning. An error by Robin Yount led to another run in the second before the Orioles pushed three across the plate in the third.

Rich Coggins singled, stole second and scored on a single by Davis, who continued to second when the throw from the outfield got past catcher Darrell Porter. Davis then stole third and counted on a single by Williams. Singles by Boog Powell and Bobby Grich added the third tally of the inning. The Orioles scored what proved to be the deciding run in the fourth when Al Bumbry walked, took second on an error by Jerry Bell and scored on a single by Davis.
