Stan Bahnsen retired the first 23 batters in succession while pitching the White Sox to a 1-0 victory over the Twins in a duel with Bert Blyleven. Bahnsen's bid for a no-hitter was spoiled when Bobby Darwin singled with two out in the eighth inning. Jerry Terrell added a single in the ninth. Blyleven, who yielded five hits, was beaten when the White Sox scored in the second on a single by Carlos May, a stolen base, infield out and single by Ron Santo. [The Sporting News]
