The Yankees ended a five-game losing streak with a 3-2 victory over the Brewers. The Yankees began their scoring with two runs in the first inning on singles by Chris Chambliss and Bobby Murcer, an infield out by Lou Piniella and single by Bill Sudakis. The Brewers came back with a run in their half on two walks and a single by Darrel Porter, but the Yankees added what proved to be their winning run in the seventh. Graig Nettles singled and was forced by Rick Dempsey, who took third on a single by Fernando Gonzalez and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jim Mason. George Scott homered for the Brewers in the eighth.
