Mayberry's two-bagger in the first inning drove in Amos Otis, who had singled. The Angels loaded the bases with three singles in the fifth, but scored only on a sacrifice fly by Ellie Rodriguez. Patek's homer in the fifth put the Royals ahead again before Cookie Rojas doubled in the sixth and Mayberry followed with his round-tripper for the winning margin.
