Rennie Stennett and Frank Taveras drove in two runs apiece to lead the Pirates' attack in an 8-4 victory over the Expos. The Pirates scored without benefit of a hit in the first inning on a walk to Gene Clines, an error on a pickoff throw by Balor Moore and a wild pitch. Ken Brett returned the favor with a wild pitch that gave the Expos a run in their half. Dave Parker walked and Stennett doubled for the Pirates' tally in the second. Taveras accounted for his two RBIs with sacrifice flies in the fourth and sixth. Stennett drove in his second run with a single in the eighth, scoring Brett, who had doubled. Bob Bailey homered for the Expos with a man on base in the ninth.
