Although held to only five hits, the Expos enjoyed a pair of two-run innings and defeated the Phillies, 4-2. In the first, Ron Hunt drew a pass from Jim Lonborg and, after a sacrifice, scored on a single by Ken Singleton. Ron Fairly walked and Bob Bailey singled to drive in Singleton. Hunt doubled with two out in the fifth and crossed the plate on a single by Larry Lintz, who took second on the throw home and then scored on a single by Willie Davis.
