Exploding for six runs in the first inning, the Dodgers defeated the Giants, 9-5. Steve Garvey, who finished the game with four hits, drove in the first run with a double. Ron Cey added two with a bases-loaded double before Bill Russell capped the outburst with a three-run homer. Rick Auerbach homered in the second when the Dodgers added two runs and Garvey capped the scoring with a round-tripper in the seventh.
