Frank Tanana scattered eight hits and gave up only two unearned runs as the Angels defeated the Athletics, 8-2. The Angels, after taking a 3-0 lead, iced the game with four runs in the fourth. Ken Holtzman, who started for the A's, was removed with the bases loaded. Bobby Valentine hit a sacrifice fly, Bob Oliver drove in two runs with a single and Tommy McCraw accounted for the fourth run of the frame with another sacrifice fly.
