A grand-slam homer by Cookie Rojas in the 11th inning powered the Royals to a 9-5 victory over the Orioles. Mark Belanger homered with a man on base in the third when the Orioles scored five runs to take a 5-3 lead, but Fran Healy drove in a run for the Royals with a double in the fourth and tied the score with a run-producing single in the sixth. Al Cowens started the 11th with a safe bunt and was forced by George Brett. Healy followed with a single and Fred Patek walked to load the bases, setting the stage for Rojas' winning smash off Bob Reynolds. [The Sporting News]
