Ellie Rodriguez hit two homers and a double, driving in four runs, as the Angels snapped their four-game losing streak with a 5-3 victory over the Tigers. A single by Frank Robinson, pass to Paul Schaal and double by Rodriguez produced two runs in the second inning. The Tigers came back with matching tallies in the fifth, but Rodriguez broke the tie with his first homer of the game in the Angels' half.

Another run followed in the same stanza. Sandy Alomar singled and took third when Mickey Rivers bunted and was safe on an error by Norm Cash. Alomar then scored when Dave Chalk grounded into a double play. Rodriguez iced the victory in the seventh by hitting his second homer of the game. [The Sporting News]
