Danny Cater singled in the 11th inning, scoring pinch-runner Tommy Harper, to give the Red Sox a 4-3 victory over the Twins. Dwight Evans hit a homer for the Red Sox and Larry Hisle for the Twins to mark the early scoring. In the 11th, Dick McAuliffe singled and was forced by Mario Guerrero, who yielded the paths to Harper. After taking second on a grounder by Juan Beniquez, Harper crossed the plate on Cater's single.
