The Padres were able to end their nine-game losing streak when Cito Gaston hit a pinch-homer in the eighth inning to beat the Cubs, 6-5. The Cubs, who scored four runs in the first, held a 5-2 lead before Willie McCovey homered for the Padres in the fifth.
